If you're running SharePoint on-premises, you're running SQL Server. That's one of the few situations in which you can drop the "it depends". In many organizations however, the database platform is run by the exact same people that are running the SharePoint infrastructure. And those people, like me, are not professional database administrators. This session will give a demo-heavy overview of the essential setup and configuration tips together with what you need to know to keep the system running afterwards. A large part of the talk will focus on leveraging community tools to make your life easier or get to know a database server you've never seen before. If you are the one in charge of SQL Server and not sure what to do? This session is for you.
